I went to Sweetwaters –let’s just say it is another city in within the greater Miami—and did a story about a Mexican immigrant who had been granted asylum in the US. That story had to wait until today for it to be published. And no, we were not scooped.

I had shadowed Alfonso Chardy, and he did the interview in Spanish. One of the lawyers in the room, Lucy, volunteered to translate the Spanish into English. But because I have a very little understanding of Spanish, I could get words that the interviewee, Policarpo, was saying, and yes, I think the lawyer suddenly realized that I could understand a few words.American Diary: Part II
